The fall-off noted after the Cold War, is telling of the need for a concrete adversary. Abstraction runs wild as a result. Perhaps, the rise of China will present a chance to undo this trend.

Agreed - although the worst imaginable case is that an extended period of competition with no painful feedback (i.e. kinetic war) lays the groundwork for even bigger disaster.

HEDGEHOG 2025 should garner some attention. China is a major manufacturer of drones. For festivals fireworks are being displaced by drone swarms so dealing with drones is worth looking at.

The USA should be focused on keeping up with the Drones (almost a pun).
